Laurie Taylor missed the following statistics in his column (September 17): 57 per cent of students have a part-time job to make ends meet (as do 9 per cent of lecturers); 23 per cent of students interpret 9am start time of lectures as 9.15am (as do 2 per cent of lecturers); per cent of students leave their mobile phones on during lectures, 12 per cent receive calls during lectures and 2 per cent answer and have a conversation while the lecturer is speaking; 4 per cent of students turn up to the wrong exam, but half of them still sit it anyway.
