The first casualty of a magazine reorganisation is the book review section. Full-length reviews are now diluted by snippets from other publications (why?), the "Top 10 Academic Bestsellers" from Blackwell (an advert?) and two pages of blurbs about recently published titles. The accumulated length is almost three pages, yet nothing more is provided than superficial information that I might gather online from a bookseller's list. In contrast, three more pages of reviews would have been appreciated by at least this reader.
