Roger Brown misjudges the approach of the law and the courts to academic judgment by stating that "in a few years' time, any student who does not get an upper-second degree may take their university to court" ("'Ragbag' American system comes in for some stick", 22 January). Such a student will be wasting their time unless the law takes an abrupt about-turn.
