The article on the National Union of Students presidential election ("NUS reins regained by Labour", THES , April 19), suggested that the NUS has no clear policy on proposals for the introduction of a graduate tax.
In fact, the conference voted by a clear majority to oppose a graduate tax, a decision that represented a victory for the Campaign for Free Education and a defeat for both Labour Students and their erstwhile "independent" allies.
The CFE will be campaigning to ensure that the new NUS leadership does more than simply pay lip service to this policy.
