Politic policy

Your article "Is it right to refuse to teach a racist?" ( THES , June 6) began with a description of a lecture at Salford University that is inaccurate. The first-year lecture on contemporary rightwing extremism in western Europe was uneventful - there was no evidence of any boycott request.

The article makes reference to airing "political views" in seminars. It would be odd if politics seminars did not provide a forum for an exchange of views. Any such exchange, however, will take place in the context of Salford's policies on equality and diversity.
