Reasonable action

The Whistleblower column ("Luton professor was wrongfully dismissed", THES , September ) refers to unsubstantiated allegations that the University of Luton refutes.

The claim that the appointment procedure for re-deployment was "biased and procedurally flawed" was refuted by the employment tribunal. It found Luton "negotiated and agreed upon a process for selection and adhered to it. By definition, we have to conclude that they acted reasonably in doing so." The article did not mention this. The independent inquiry by chair of governors David Docherty confirmed the findings of the tribunal.
