No one reading your article "Bullying made me feel suicidal" (Soapbox, November 5) can have failed to be moved by the plight of the writer whom you described as "a once fulfilled academic".
That a person has suffered physically and mentally is an indictment of the university concerned and of one of its departments.
Whatever the issues involved, no employee deserves such appalling and ignominious treatment. Restitution is long overdue.
Is it too much to expect that those concerned will recognise the picture portrayed in the article and take immediate action to bring about a full and permanent restoration of this academic's position and wellbeing? Anything less would make a mockery of the higher education sector's claims to value its staff.
