The subheading of Jeffrey Meyers' review of Peter Parker's biography of Christopher Isherwood (Books, July 16) describes him as "a sordid homosexual with 400 lovers". To conjoin "sordid" and "homosexual" in this timeworn homophobic phrase is unacceptable. An apology is required.
