In his review of Michael Ruse's The Evolution-Creation Struggle , Harry Collins makes a number of incisive points (Books, December 9). But he takes Richard Dawkins to task for his excessive "stridency" and "proclamatory atheism". In view of the political violence being carried out at the present time by religious zealots of every persuasion, some strident debunking of counter-Enlightenment obfuscation could be precisely what is needed.
