The art of disguise

What's in a name? Gary Day (Opinion, THES , October 31) says that "academics are not artists". But if a practising fine artist also holds an associate teaching post in an institute of higher education, does that mean they cannot be an artist? Many fine artists hold associate lecturer posts and many are on hourly-paid contracts.
