Temperatures in Guildford rose to extremes when your travel and tourism subject focus omitted to mention the pioneering and world-class work of the University of Surrey ("Rise in degrees as things hot up", THES , August 8).

Our School of Management was the first centre in the UK to receive accreditation from the World Tourism Organisation - a specialist agency of the United Nations - for its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It is also one of the longest-standing, largest and leading centres of tourism education worldwide.

So when you take your well-deserved "hols", there is a good chance that they have been organised by a Surrey graduate.
