Hi, Gordon. Remember me? Dave Boswell. Class of '76. I did your third-year option on Roland Barthes. Long, red, straggly beard (that's me - not Roland Barthes!). Anyway, I went off to Australia on a research contract after graduating. Fabulous country. Absolutely huge. I'm now lecturing at Uttoxeter in the department of restaurant management. It would be nice to catch up. How are you and all the old gang? Quintock, Odgers, and that chap who never showed up - Pierce something or other? Regards. Dave (Boswell)

Hi, Gordon. Hope you got my last email. Things here at Uttoxeter are much the same. Did I mention that I went to Australia after graduating from Poppleton? Fabulous country. Absolutely huge. If you have a moment, it would be nice to catch up. Regards. Dave (Boswell)

Hi, Gordon. Hope you got my earlier emails. I've taken a chance and enclosed the draft of a book I'm working on that compares restaurant management in Australia and the UK. Did I tell you I spent some time in Oz after leaving Blighty? Fabulous country. Absolutely huge. Any comments more than welcome. Regards. Dave (Boswell)

Dear Dave Boswell. Thanks for your emails and the 350-page enclosure that we greatly enjoyed downloading. Unfortunately, Professor Lapping will be unable to respond to any of your messages. In recent months, he has developed a pathological condition diagnosed as Atema (Almost Total Email Aversion) that can, apparently, be corrected only by total avoidance of all unsolicited emails for the next decade. I can only ask that you do not risk aggravating this serious condition by communicating any further in this manner. I did, however, paraphrase the contents of your messages and he was happy to concur with your strongly held view that Australia is a huge country. Goodbye. Maureen.
