Four independent directors have been appointed to the board of the Higher Education Quality Council:
Kenneth Dixon, deputy chairman, Bass plc and pro-chancellor and chairman of the Council of the University of York;
Michael Heron, chairman of the Post Office, of the National Council for Vocational Qualifications and of the council of St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London;
Christopher Kenyon, chairman of William Kenyon and Sons and of the council of the Victoria University of Manchester;
David Miller, chairman of the Scottish Vocational Education Council, of the Scottish Examinations Board and of the Court of the University of Stirling.
