Simon Wren-Lewis, professor in macro-economic modelling at the University of Strathclyde, has been appointed to the Bertie Black chair in business economics from July 1. Iain Hampsher-Monk, former reader in political theory has been appointed professor of political theory from January 1.

Sandra Dawson, professor of organisation behaviour at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, has been appointed director of the Judge Institute of Management Studies as the new Peat Marwick professor of management studies.
