VOLTAIRE'S CONTEMPORARIES
The Eldon Gallery at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford is exhibiting 18th-century drawings in the lifetime of Voltaire. The exhibition, which includes work by Watteau, J-B Greuze, Boucher and J.B.M. BEYOND BOUNDARIES
The European Studies Research Institute at the University of Salford is marking its first anniversary with a cross-disciplinary conference on the emergence of a new Europe on November 11-12. The conference aims to bring together researchers wishing to cross disciplinary boundaries to address both specific and general issues dealing with the recomposition and reconstruction at many levels (socio-political, historical, literary, cultural, economic, environmental and linguistic).
