Fellowships and honorary fellowships have been conferred as follows: Fellows: Geoffrey Burnstock, professor of anatomy and head of the department of anatomy and developmental biology; Vera Chirwa, barrister and political rights campaigner, Malawi; Liman Ciroma, Nigerian civil servant (1959-93), chairman of the Nigerian Operations of the Union Trading Company and Tate; Peter Clapham, chief executive of the National Physical Laboratory (1990-95); Daniel Cohen, executive director, Caradon plc; Beatrice De Cardi, archaeologist and secretary to The Council for British Archaeology (1949-73); Kenneth Ives, emeritus professor of civil engineering, UCL; Roger Lyons, general secretary of the Manufacturing Science and Finance union; Ronald Mason, chair of UCL Hospitals NHS Trust (1993-95); Barbara Pearse, member of the scientific staff at Medical Research Council Molecular Biology Laboratory, Cambridge; John Ridd, emeritus professor of chemistry, UCL; Peter Snow, head of theatre design at Slade School of Fine Art.

Honorary fellows: Michael Audley-Charles, emeritus professor of geology; Timothy Biscoe, deputy vice-chancellor, Hong Kong University; Maurice Hatter, chairman and owner of IMO Precision Controls Ltd and founder of the Hatter Institute for Cardiovascular Studies; Frank Kermode, literary critic, Lord Northcliffe professor of modern English Literature (1967-74); Desmond Laurence, emeritus professor of pharmacology and therapeutics; Hugh Priestley, treasurer of UCL and director of Laurence Keen Ltd.
