UNIVERSITY OF ABERTAY DUNDEE The university's first honorary degrees will be conferred upon the following: DLitt: David Wilson, former governor and commander-in-chief of Hong Kong, chairman of Scottish Hydro-Electric plc since 1993.

LLD: Bruce Millan, secretary of state for Scotland 1976-79, European Commissioner with responsibility for regional policies since 1989.

DSc: William Stewart, chief scientific adviser to the Cabinet office and head of the Office of Science and Technology.

UNIVERSITY OF PLYMOUTH DSc: Jan Hron, rector of the University of Agriculture, Prague.
