Honorary doctorates were awarded to the following in March: Richard Noble, founder and chairman of SSC Programmes Ltd; Royden Axe, managing director of Design Research Associates Ltd; Lawrence Baker, expert in producing and teaching others to produce cost-effective buildings, for his work in India; and Maisie Smith, in recognition of her services to charitable and voluntary organisations in the West Midlands.

Her Grace the Duchess of Beaufort was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws in March.
