A major United Nations database has been published on CD-Rom, making documents more accessible to analysts, politicians and scholars. Previously the complete United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBIS) was available online only to UN offices, missions and selected government agencies.
The files include bibliographic citations to UN documents from 1979, full text of General Assembly resolutions from 1981 and Security Council resolutions from 1974, more than 119,000 citations to speeches made in the General Assembly, and records of how each country voted on General Assembly resolutions from 1983. The record of votes in the Security Council goes back to 1946.
The CD version UNBIS Plus is published by Chadwyck-Healey on three discs. The current file on one disc costs Pounds 595 and is updated quarterly. A retrospective file to 1992 on two discs costs Pounds 1,995. Concessions are available for developing countries.
