American manufacturers Real World Interface are appealing for help in naming their new $1,995 educational and research robot.

As an incentive they plan to give one to the person who comes up with the most inventive name.

They claim that the robot's drive encoders, seven sonars and high-level fuzzy logic software are normally found on machines five times more expensive.

The prize package includes textbooks on robotics, artificial intelligence and fuzzy logic.

Competition details are available from co-sponsors ActivMedia. Email Jeanne Dietsch at robots@activmedia.com or fax to +1 603 924 2184. Entries should be sent by July 31.
