Times Higher Education will run its first event focused on the leadership and governance of universities next year.
The inaugural THE Leadership?& Management Summit will focus on the models and processes adopted by universities to meet future challenges and include discussions?about how management strategies can become more innovative. The conference will take place in Hong Kong from 17 to 19 July 2019, in partnership with the City University of Hong Kong.
Phil Baty, chief knowledge officer at THE, said that ¡°universities are among the most profoundly important institutions in terms of their public good¡± and are also ¡°facing an extraordinary period of change and challenge¡±, including declines in public funding and increasing questions about their value. But despite this ¡°there has been little sector focus on the leadership requirements for these multi-faceted organisations¡±.
¡°THE is delighted to address this with a new edition to its prestigious World Summit Series of events,¡± he said. ¡°While all of our events have addressed the strategic challenges faced by university leaders, this summit will focus entirely on leadership and management itself ¨C not just the issues and challenges faced by leaders, but the skills and attributes and techniques required to lead.¡±
