Feedback, the newsletter of Dundee University's department of applied physics and electronic and mechanical engineering, has been plundering the American journal Manufacturing Engineering for one-liners submitted by members of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Among the samples: "Maths illiteracy affects eight out of every five people . . . Change is inevitable, except from vending machines . . . Never tell a lie, unless lying is your strong point . . . Start off every day with a smile and get it over with . . ."
