Artificial flowers

On reading the new journal Organisation it is evidentt the editors clearly recognise "the artificial or constructed functionality of academic institutions and of the 'disciplines' which they sponsor" ("Passion flowers in a neo-discipline", THES, February 24). It seems to me that it is precisely this artificiality that the editors raise for deconstruction thus questioning assumptions of mainstream organisational theory. It is lamentable that so few organisation-management studies journals are prepared to break-away from modernist markets and pursue alternative agendas.
