The latest edition of The Big Issue in Scotland quizzes some former graduates about their student past. George Robertson, shadow secretary of state for Scotland, asked what he is most proud of about his student days at Dundee University, says: "Achieving student participation in the court and senate for the first time.'' Asked what he is most embarrassed about, he claims: "It's not an emotion I remember."
A somewhat different response comes from Edinburgh University medical graduate John Hodge, writer of the film Shallow Grave. He is most proud of not drinking a yard of ale and not stealing any road signs. And embarrassed by everything else.
