The Labour party is preparing to publish proposals to broaden the A level and improve standards on General National Vocational Qualifications courses, David Blunkett, the Shadow education secretary, told a European Year of Lifelong Learning conference at New College, Durham, this week. Labour also wants to introduce individual learning accounts as part of a further and higher education funding review, he said.
