Bologna process to be global model?

Countries around the world are looking to a European shake-up of higher education as a model for reform of their own systems, a conference was told. Michael Gaebel of the European University Association said educators in Asia, Africa, Australia, the US and Latin America were looking more closely at the Bologna Process. He said China was interested in the process as an example of education reform over a wide geographical area. Meanwhile, northern Cyprus has been excluded from the Bologna Process. The Turkish-administered section of the island had lobbied to be included in the process but is not universally recognised as a state.
