Two London universities are helping to develop journalism skills in Asia. City University London's journalism department has won a British Council contract to assess journalism education and training in Vietnam. City will collaborate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Academy of Journalism and Communication in Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, the University of Westminster's China Media Centre has been awarded a contract to develop journalism skills in China. The project, Indepth Reporting in China, will include a survey and report on media coverage of environmental issues in the country throughout 2009.
