Just two weeks after the Budget bombshell has left most of higher education wondering if it can afford any new buildings, the University of Reading has announced the opening of "new facilities for dairy cows". A press release boasts that resident cows at the university's Sonning Farm will have "free access to cubicles at either end of the main building, each equipped with a rubber matting bed topped with freshly chopped straw". Sounds like the kind of accommodation most students out in digs would milk a few cows for.
