The tabloids will doubtless be excited to hear that the 50th birthday of Lord Plant, political theorist, Labour peer and chair of the party commission on electoral reform, was marked by the delivery of an inflatable female to the lodge at St Catharine's College, Oxford, of which he is Master. Before they get too excited, it should be pointed out that the female in question was Minnie Mouse.
