Industry minister Tim Eggar was due to visit Sunderland yesterday to launch the university's policy document on science, engineering and technology. The document sets an agenda for the university's contribution to these areas and Mr Eggar will also open the new Centre for Achievement in Manufacturing and Management. This builds on a partnership between the university and leading industrial names such as Nissan, Black and Decker and Thorn Lighting.
