After visiting Cardiff two weeks ago, the committee last week headed north of the border, where one member of the secretariat was overheard wearily commenting to another: "If this is Tuesday, it must be Edinburgh." Lord Nolan himself made something of a Freudian slip when, in attempting to refer to the Scottish Office, he called it the Foreign Office.
