The Royal Society of Edinburgh has this week been replying to the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution's inquiry into environmental standards. It stresses the importance of continued research into the applicability and effectiveness of these standards, and concludes: "The provision of a vehicle to provide feedback and consultation would also be a positive development". Solar-powered, presumably.
Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh is set for an inaugural lecture with a difference from its new honorary professor in drama, Lord Rix, better known as Brian Rix. The lecture is entitled "Life in the Farce Lane". Cue slammed doors, vicars and dropped trousers?
