Bill Lindsay of Strathclyde University's education faculty has warned that a teacher recruitment drive "of dramatic proportions" is needed to underpin Labour leader Tony Blair's vision of providing pupils with computer hardware. Mr Lindsay, course director for Strathclyde's BEd in design and technology, said technology was one of the few areas which had a teacher recruitment problem. "Society does not view technology teaching as either being significant or a high status career. Unfilled places on every Scottish technology teacher training course demonstrates this perception clearly," he said
