IQ tests just the job

IQ tests taken by ten-year-olds should replace current school and university exams because "IQ is the single best predictor of job performance and productivity", an academic argues in this week's THES.

James Tooley, research fellow at Manchester University, believes that IQ testing could liberate education from "credentialism", the need for exam and assessment certificates. Since airing his ideas Tooley has been besieged by the media but has had a hostile reception from fellow academics.
