Brussels, 20 June 2002
An international workshop on e-learning platforms between Europe and Asia will take place in Teheran, the Republic of Iran, from October 29 to 31 2002.
The EU aims to boost the percentage of Europeans who pursue lifelong learning and training in order to accelerate progress towards the Lisbon goal of making Europe the most competitive knowledge-based economy by 2010.
The EU has also pledged greater economic cooperation with Asia, including enhanced cooperation between higher education institutions, research and student exchanges and the promotion of structural networks between the two areas.
'E-learning 2002' at the EURASIA ICT 2002 workshop aims to examine research and progress in the area and look at the future needs of universities, industry and government.
