The unrelenting global expansion of higher education continues to push the parameters of proper academic study ever wider.

University of North London public affairs officer John Izbicki was delighted to hear at a conference on international access that the University of Arizona has taken the next logical step in extending the boundaries - and created a Professor of Ignorance. Garrulous John reflected: "It would just be perfect if her name was Bliss."

Unfortunately all inquiries to Arizona have so far met with the predictable response: "Professor of Ignorance? Never heard of her."
