The governing bodies of the regional technical colleges in Ireland have been exhorted by Irish education minister Niamh Bhreathnach to ensure they are "gender balanced". This they have achieved, but not without an initial objection from the gentlemen concerned that they were unable to find sufficient "ladies". Ms Bhreathnach retorted: "Well, if you can't get enough ladies I will get you plenty of women."
