All of which leads on nicely to alumnus to be proud of No. 31: Sir Nicholas Lyell, a member of Pratt's Club, and Attorney-General, whose actions in the discharge of that post have provided Sir Richard with some of his livelier material.
Sir Nicholas may have acquired the intellectual underpinning for his imaginative approach to open government while an undergraduate at that well-known progressive institution Christ Church, Oxford.
