University heads' submissions to the Nolan committee on standards in public life are "profoundly inadequate", the Council for Academic Autonomy has claimed. Evidence from the Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals and the Committee of University Chairmen failed to recognise the important role academics should play in the governance of institutions, the CAA says in its submission to Nolan.
