Just as well the National Union of Students operates with a fair degree of openness, or journalists who spent last Tuesday morning seeking president Jim Murphy's views on the Labour Party's Learning Bank would have been completely stymied. Not that the press are completely lacking in resource when it comes to hunting out those in the public eye, but only hacks working on the principle of "look in the most unlikely place" would have otherwise thought of looking for a student leader . . . in an examination hall.
