Birkbeck College has invited journalists to come and talk to students about their trade, in return for a pint of beer. Not only does this offer terms and conditions of work which make Burger King seem like raving philanthropists, it perpetuates an outdated stereotype of journalistic habits. Any self-respecting journo would demand at least two pints.
