Students from Hong Kong, southern China and parts of Southeast Asia have been warned not to return home for the Easter break in an effort to prevent their contracting the deadly severe acute respiratory syndrome virus. The British Council has issued the warning, based on Foreign Office advice, to all its sponsored scholars in the UK, as well as its staff.
Airlines were this week reported to have suspended many direct flights to the region.
