The world's most comprehensive visual record of tribal cultures in South Asia and the Himalayas has gone online. More than 10,000 rare images are now available to researchers and the general public on the School of Oriental and African Studies' website. The photographs were taken by Christoph von Furer-Haimendorf, a professor of anthropology at Soas, who studied tribal cultures in South Asia and the Himalayas from the 1930s to the 1980s. The digital archive took a year to create.
