The Scottish Higher Education Funding Council has decided to join discussions on the creation of a new higher education quality agency. The council decided that its chief executive, John Sizer, would be its representative on the Joint Planning Group for the agency, which held its first meeting on Thursday last week. The Government has set the group a target of ensuring the new agency is in operation by January 1997.
