Never ones to miss out on a craze, the University of Teesside -- the people who brought you adverts in Viz and the peculiar exploits of Teesside Ted and his toilet duck -- have sent out a "Magic Eye"-style poster which allegedly conceals slogans extolling the virtues of the institution.
The idea has gone over well at recruitment fairs, where rival institutions have had to watch vast numbers of teenagers wandering around holding Teesside propaganda at the specified five centimetres from their noses. But the PR follow-up has been conspicuously less successful: "The only people who don't seem to be able to see it are journalists," says press and public relations manager Nic Mitchell.
