Already competing with Association for Colleges chief Ruth Gee for the leadership of the body which will emerge from the link-up of AFC with his College Employers Federation, the sharp-suited Ward looks to have another challenger on his hands. Keith Scribbins, recently-elected chair of CEF, friend and former Natfhe colleague of AUT general secretary David Triesman, was the name being bandied about at the Labour Party conference.
