The American University of Sharjah has a higher percentage of international students than any other world ranked institution, according to an analysis of Times Higher Education data.

Some 84 per cent of the university¡¯s student body is made up of international students, who come from more than 100 different countries including India, the US, Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan.?

As part of the data collected for the?World University Rankings,?institutions provide figures on the percentage of international students they have.?THE?has extracted these data and compiled a list of the top 200 universities to explore which institutions are hosting the most international students.?

Lisa C. Angell, director of the international exchange office at the American University of Sharjah, said that having such a diverse range of viewpoints ¡°contributes in so many different ways¡±. ¡°Every single course we teach, every single learning interaction, is experienced and shared through these multicultural lenses,¡± she said.

Rainie Grant, an American student studying at AUS, said that although there have been many challenges during her time at the university, she considers it to have been a time of ¡°incredible benefit and personal growth¡±.

The rest of the universities making up the top five are the Central European University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the University of Luxembourg.

The UK was the most represented country in the top 200 with 72 universities present altogether. Sixteen of these were located in London with five of the capital¡¯s universities situated in the top 10.?

International students from the London School of Economics and Political Science, which took the third place position, told THE that they chose to study at the university because of the wide range of course choices and its location in London.?
