Robert Tuttle, the US ambassador to the UK, has opened a new ?8 million home for experts in international security, terrorism and peace studies at the University of St Andrews. The new building includes the world's first Syrian research centre and houses one of the world's oldest centres for the study of terrorism, which advises governments, the armed forces and international business. Its researchers' projects span Eastern and Central Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
