Government departments are to be encouraged to appoint female scientists to public positions by a catalogue pointing them in the direction of suitable women. The Development Unit on Women in Science, Engineering and Technology, housed in the Department of Trade and Industry, has produced a catalogue of 100 databases which hold information on women experts. This will go to Government departments and the public appointments unit in the Cabinet Office.
