Lord Jenkins, chancellor of the University of Oxford, was writing women out of history last week at the opening of the extension to the university's Ashmolean Museum. He described an earlier Duke of York, who performed a previous opening there, as "later James II, the last Stuart monarch". Shame about James's two daughters, Mary and Anne, who also got the job.
